A superb model of the Sherman tank from the 756th Tank Battalion based in Germany in Feburay 1945

creation from Hobby Master. The M4 105mm Howitzer was
a notable improvement over earlier Shermans and was
primarily used as a piece of field artillery, indirect fire in
support of the battalion. This bad boy could fire a shot as
far away as 7 miles.
The entire model is crafted to the great standard we expect
from Hobby Master. Wide tracks surrounding detailed
wheels and suspension are the base for this splendidly
painted recreation. The turret turns, main gun elevates and
commander’s hatch opens. All markings are the usual high
quality Hobby Master routinely delivers. With over 4,100
M4 105mm tanks made, along with its performance it has
earned a well-deserved spot in the history books and your

more | Hobby Master 1/48 Russian JS-2 IS-2 Heavy Tank Model Prey Tank (HG1105)
During the seesaw action of some wars equipment can be won or lost. When an army is in retreat the loss of heavy equipment tends to be quite sizable. These losses come from breakdowns to capture of the slower moving weapons by the overtaking forces. Trying to use captured equipment can be difficult because of the lack of repair parts or adequate and appropriate munitions. In late 1942 as a countermeasure to the German tanks the Russians developed the IS-2 (Iosef Stalin – westernized Joseph Stalin). The IS tanks were improved and updated versions of the earlier KV tanks. These 40 ton+ tanks were mechanically improved and armed with more powerful 122mm main gun. Along with the new gun the armor was increased so there was 150mm on the hull, 100mm on the turret. Some short-comings of the IS-2 was the slow rate of fire because the main gun shot was comprised of two pieces, lack of storage space limited the crew to only 28 rounds and the armor would splinter internally when hit. Throughout 1943 production was greatly increased and the IS-2 was continually improved. The units received a more powerful engine, a 5-speed gearbox along with new radios. The combination of good crews, good armor and a big gun proved to be very effective. The long gun could pack a potent punch against Tiger Is and IIs. A rapid build up of new Russian tanks started the USA to worry about a battle in Europe fighting thousands of Soviet tanks just like the T-55A. This concern sparked a fierce tank development race between the two countries and in the U.S. the development of the Attack Helicopter became a priority. The T-55 was sold to over 40 countries and came in numerous variants. The T-54/55 became the most produced tank series in history. A replacement for the aging T-34 was needed so the T-44 was created that evolved into the T-54 then in 1958 the T-55. From 1964 ¡V 1979 under license from Russia, Poland built the T-55A. The T-55A retained the T-54 and T-55 improvements plus a few of its own, improved anti-radiation protection, improved NBC system and no bow MG. In 1970, after countless complaints a cupola was provided for the 12.7mm DShK anti-aircraft machine gun. Some estimate 95,000 - 130,000 T-54 and T-55 series tanks were manufactured. | |

The Centurion Mk. I, the first of 13 variations was delivered to the British Army in 1949 with a 17-pound gun. The Mk. 3 went to war in Korea with a 20-pound main gun. After Korea came a NATO standardization program for ammunition so the 7.92mm coaxial machine gun was changed to 7.62mm and a bore evacuator installed on the main gun and it was re-designated Mk. 5. The next improvement was replacing the main gun with an L7 105mm and an additional 2-inch armored plate on the front and this became the Mk. 6.
At the time of development and for many years the British military tank philosophy was well armed and very well armored. Speed wasn't of the essence so the top speed of 34 km/h wasn¡¦t a big concern. This would be their thinking until the arrival of the Challenger that would offer all 3 components.
