more | Sunstar/Chrono 1/24 RM 686 WLT686 Vernons Pools Routemaster Bus (2905) The traditional red double-decker bus is still one of the most recognizable symbols of London, but during the 1970’s, many colorful decorations were also to be seen on the streets of the capital. Although advertising had long been a feature of London buses, in August 1969 the first bus was completely decorated with an advertisement. Recognizing the potential increased revenue, London Transport then embarked on a programme, which was to see 28 different designs of “all-over” advertisements by April 1976. A few more followed in the 1980’s, but the novelty and impact had declined and they were phased out. RM686 ran in the colourful Vernon’s Pools livery between August 1972 and September 1974, during which time, the prize money was increased several times. more.. | |
