A highly detailed large scale model with many openable access panels and superb internal detailing, this P-51 commemorates Lt Col John 'Moon' Elder Jr. One of the 355th Fighter Groups original pilots he became CO of the 357th Fighter Squadron in July 1944, remaining in command until VE-Day. Flying from Steeple Morden he was the unit’s most successful pilot, with eight aerial and thirteen strafing victories, a number of which were scored in this aircraft. Shown here a crewman is adding Elders last victory to his scoreboard. Pilot and ground crew figures are included.
