IXO 1/72 Royal Navy Blackburn Skua Mk2 Aircraft Model (DDIJ00021)
A new model of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Blackburn Skua dive bomber. IXo have produced another good diecast model of a classic British warbird, with clear canopy, neat panel lines and excellent paintwork.
The packaging includes optional parts to display the model with gear down, or in-flight whith wheel wells covered. A radio antenna and bomb rack are also supplied, none of these parts being fitted in the photographs.
The Blackburn Skua was a fighter/dive-bomber used by the Fleet Air Arm in the early years of World War II, flying in combat over Norway, Dunkirk and the Mediterranean. A Skua was the first first FAA aircraft to shoot down a German aircraft, a Dornier Flying boat, 26th September 1939, and first aircraft to sink a major warship in wartime, the cruiser Königsberg, Bergen harbour, 10th April 1940. The Skua was also the first aircraft to carry out an interception of an enemy aircraft controlled by shipbourne radar.
