In the 1950's and 60's the Robson's of Carlisle fleet was dominated by Fodens and Thames Traders, together with a handful of Albions.The Foden artics and 8 wheel rigids handled the heavy work whilst the Traders coped with the lighter traffic.As with the Fodens, the Trader was used in both artic and rigid forms. The rigids were mainly a mixture of 4 wheel platform and dropsides but a number of box vans were also to be found.However this is believed to be the only Thames Trader fitted with a Luton Van body.
