Corgi 1/144 DH Comet 4 Royal Aircraft Establishment (AA31401)
Comet 4 - Royal Aircraft Establishment :- This Comet 4 was initially delivered to the BOAC on 31st Dec.1958, registered G-APDF. This was the sixth production Comet 4 and served with BOAC until 1967, when it was bought by the Ministry of Defence for research flying, becoming XV814. The aircraft entered service with the Avionics Department of the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough in 1976, it was repainted in this smart red, white and blue colour scheme known as "raspberry ripple" and was the penultimate airworthy Comet when retired in January 1993. It was then used at Boscombe Down for spare parts to keep XS235, the last Comet flying, but was finally scrapped at Chipping Campden.
