Corgi's latest model of the Wessex HAS.3 as operating from HMS Antrim in 1982.
Rotorspan 237mm, Humphrey was a Wessex HAS.3 based on HMS Antrim with 100 Flight of 737 NAS. It was used to rescue the crew and passengers of 2 Wessex HU.5 that crashed on South Georgia during Operation Paraquat, the British operation to retake the island in late April 1982. Humphrey also undertook some Spec.ops insertions and rescued a number of SAS/SBS personnel who's motor had failed on their inflateable boats. A famous incident was the depth charging of the Argentinian submarine 'Santa Fe'. The helicopter was retired in July 1982. | |
