Corgi 1/72 Boeing Vertol Chinook 12 Sqn RAAF Amberley Queensland Australia 1988 (AA34205)
Neatly detailed 1/72 die-cast model of the Boeing CH-47C Chinook as supplied to the Royal Australian Air Force in 1975. Operated by 12 squadron RAAF from Amberley, Queensland, the aircraft displays the RAAFs current camouflage scheme.

1969, the type gaining the nick-name ‘Big Windy’ due to the wind stirred up huge rotors. The CH-47C is outwardly similar to the earlier CH-47A and ‘B models, but is powered by two 3750 shp T55-L-11C engines and is capable of lifting a load very nearly equal to the –A model’s gross weight. The Army acquired a total of 270 Boeing-built CH-47Cs, plus in 1985,a further eleven built by Agusta in Italy, which were originally built for Iran. The Chinook remains in service today with the U.S.Army in large numbers, as well as with the air arms of many overseas countries, including Australia, whose Air Force took delivery of twelve in 1975 for operation by No.12 Squadron based at Amberley, Queensland, in support of the Army. A15-007 is one of these and is depicted in the RAAF’s current camouflage scheme.
