| > Corgi Aviation Archive > World War II, Fighters | Corgi 1/72 USMC F4U1 Corsair VMF214 Marines Dream WW2 (AA33008) Edwin Olander shot down a Zero on 17th October 1943 during a sweep to Kahili in Marine’s Dream as depicted here. His other kills were one Zero and a probable on 10th October 1943 whilst flying BuNo 02309, one Zero and a probable 18th October (again in Marine’s Dream), one Zero on 28th December whilst flying BuNo 17875 and a Zero and a probable on 30th December whilst flying BuNo 17792. His final score was five confirmed and four probables, all Zeroes and from mid-September to December 1943 whilst with VMF-214. White 576 had a field applied three tone scheme and utilises the last three digits of the BuNo (02576) as the aircraft number. The national insignia has also been field modified with the addition of white bars with no blue surround. It was damaged beyond repair in December 1943 following an accident at Torokina. Features authentic nose art and clear canopy with pilot figure.
