Corgi 1/50 German Tiger 1 SS Panzer Abeitlung 101 Wittman (US60501)
Well-known Tiger ace Michael Wittman was commanding this tank when he was killed in action on August 8, 1944. Because of an anomaly with the markings, there was some question as to whether this was indeed the tank he was killed in but it transpires he had probably “borrowed” it from another crew. This unit had 45 Tiger I’s, with 37 in service at the beginning of the company. One of these Tiger’s was lost during Wittman’s attack on the British armored columns at Villers Bocage.
