D-Day Surrender Set #1 - Vierville, Normandy - Includes US M4A3 Sherman, 741st Battalion, 3 GI figures and diorama base
Combine with Set #2 - US61002 - to create part of the village of Vierville, Normandy
The first village to be liberated behind Omaha Beach was Vierville. By mid-day on June 6, 1944, U.S. forces had taken the village and tanks from the 741st Tank Battalion moved in. The 741st had lost 79 tanks during the landing, and it was thanks only to reinforcements later in the day that they were able to field an effective force at all.
