Dragon Wings 1/72 F-14D Tomcat VX-9 Vampires Vandy One (50185)

VX-9 “Vampires” is known as Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Nine. The squadron conducts operational testing of various aircraft and weapon systems in order to develope appropriate tactics and procedures. The unit also maintains a permanent F-14 Tomcat detachment at Point Mugu in California, one aircraft of which is the subject of Dragon Wing’s newest release. Item Number 50185 is an F-14D, a fighter aircraft that was fitted with the newer AN/APG-71 weapons system than that used on earlier Tomcats. Dragon’s exact scale replica is decked out in an eye-catching VX-9 all-black costume, with the vampire bat logo positioned on the tail. The intricate detail and accuracy of the model are just as impressive as the paint scheme. The real F-14D is being phased out in favor of the F/A-18, so if you want to catch your own personal model of this 2,485km/h fighter, you’ll need to be quick!
